What modern terms should be used for the events in Scotland in the 18c and Ireland in the 19c.?

We know of events in WWII, the Balkans, Iraq, Indonesia etc. These events all end up with a generic label such as genocide or m deportation etc. How would you label the man-made societal and cultural impacts in Scotland (the Clearances) and Ireland (the potato famine)?
