In Windows Movie Maker, how do I get the sound to work?

I muted the clips, but for some reason, when I drag the audio in, it doesn't play. I even converted the .mp3 files to .wav, because someone told me that might work. I don't know what to do now. And actually, even if the clips aren't muted, the background music doesn't play. Could someone please help me?
