Danny Lopez and Jung-Koo Chang inducted into the boxing hall of fame?
These two deserve the induction, in fact it is long-overdue particularly for Lopez some of whose fights i saw on TV way back in the mid to late 70s. He was the best and most feared featherweight of that time until Salvador Sanchez , one of the greatest featherweight champions of all-time, came along. What's special about Lopez was that despite his proven toughness and strength, he was not invulnerable himself. I even saw him losing in a non-title fight to Japanese journeyman Shig Fukuyama.. He was also susceptible to knockdowns and cuts. He reminded me very much of Matthew Saad Muhammad who also looked vulnerable but could outlast and even knock out an opponent in attrition fights. I believe that's one of the main essence of boxing and qualities of a great boxer--to be able to overcome and still emerge victorious from difficulties and challenges. As for Chang, i consider him among the best fighters ever produced by South Korea and one of the best little men ever to put on the gloves. His victories over Alfonso Lopez and Hilario Zapata were landmarks in the jr. flyweight division. Unlike compatriot Myung Moo Woo who also reigned in the division and had numerous title defenses, he faced more named and established fighters from the West and also from Asia during his whirlwind fistic career. Mabuhay Danny Lopez! Mabuhay Chang Jung Koo!
